Where businesses get stuck
The problems we see in dggi investigation defence
A search at your premises
Records taken, stock detained and staff questioned — with no clear picture of what is alleged or how long it will run.
Fake invoice and bogus supplier allegations
Your credit challenged because a supplier upstream defaulted or was found non-existent long after you transacted in good faith.
Arrest and coercive pressure
Threat of arrest under Section 69 used to extract deposits during investigation, before any demand is ever adjudicated.
How we work
Our approach, step by step
01
Immediate containment
Panchnama review, seizure legality, and instructions to your team on what happens during and after a search.
02
Risk assessment
Honest exposure mapping — tax, interest, penalty and personal liability — so decisions are made on facts, not fear.
03
Protective remedies
Writs against illegal seizure, credit unblocking, release of goods and anticipatory protection where warranted.
04
Defence on the merits
Evidence of genuine supply — transport, payment trail, e-way bills — built into the reply and carried through appeal.

The founder
Advocate Vinay Kumar Jain
Founder — VKJ Law Offices, Advocates & Solicitors
Vinay Kumar Jain built VKJ Law Offices around a single conviction: a business should never lose money, credit or peace of mind to a tax demand it did not deserve. For a decade he has defended manufacturers, traders, exporters and contractors against GST show cause notices, DGGI investigations, summons, arrest threats and blocked input tax credit.
He is known for meeting the department early — at the summons and investigation stage, long before a demand hardens — and for explaining every step to clients in plain language. That approach has resolved 500+ matters for over 2,000 businesses across India and abroad.

Questions clients ask
DGGI Investigation Defence: straight answers
Officers are at my premises right now. What do I do?
Cooperate, do not obstruct, and record what is taken. Call counsel immediately — the panchnama and any statement recorded today shape the entire case.
Should I deposit tax during an investigation?
Only on advice. Deposits made under pressure are hard to recover, and any payment should be characterised correctly on record.
My credit ledger is blocked under Rule 86A. Can it be released?
Yes. Blocking has statutory limits and requires recorded reasons. Where those are absent, writ relief is frequently available.
